Moving forward

Jack coached me today. Power Snatch was the focus. Over head with a squat. It still needs work but felt good to work on technique. Did some hang power clean and jerks - with my first attempt at a split jerk.

Can't wait to get my own bar so I can practice more often.

Then the WOD: For Time

Run 400m
21 x 25kg front squats
Run 400m
15 front squats
Run 400m
9 front squats

I guess I have come a long way since this...

5 rounds of...

500m row
15 burpees
20 12kg KB (Russian) swings
25 wall balls

Sounds like nothing....

Until you do it FOR TIME.

Totally spent after this.

But I'd had a tricky morning and a full on day and I didn't actually want to train at all today.

So I'm really glad that I got it done and that I didn't give up on this (I had some real moments where I wanted to) and thanks to Simon the PT at Trilogy Leisure for spotting me lagging and giving me that little bit of extra motivation to push to the finish.

WOD done!

Can go to bed satisfied now.

Nite!

Burpees

Final part of my WOD was as many burpees in 7 minutes.

Note to self: Don't go off at the start like a scalded cat!

Lungs still burning.

New goals

Just PB'd my 2K row by 40 seconds.

Best ever depth on multiples of 5 x 50kg back squat.

And strict pull up is waaaaaaaay better :) #almostthere #stronger #feltsogood

That couldn't have happened before..

I know it's not good to look back. Looking forward is far more productive but every now and then taking a little peep back can help with motivation to keep going forward, by showing you how far you've come.

My first ever WOD with Jack Fleckney, well, It's a pretty awful and very vivid memory.

I can't remember everything we did that session but I do remember the 500m row.

I remember getting so nervous I started to shake. Adrenaline rush, just like before a race. Because I knew it was going to tough and I wanted to give a good score.

It's 2 minutes or less (preferably the latter) of intense anaerobic pain.

I'm sure Jack has my time from that day but that's not what I'm focusing on.

It was what happened after that WOD. I'd arranged a sports massage with Donna Norman but in between I'd had to go home and have a nap. I was spent! I remember Donna nearly wetting herself laughing.

So today when I did a 200m row and a 500m row for time as my warm up, then my weightlifting and then my WOD of 4 x 500m rows. I realised how far I'd come. I didn't need a nap anyway!

So even though I don't always feel fitter and stronger - today I had real in your face proof that I am.

It's been a good weekend of training and I'm ready for the new program starting tomorrow!

Sports massage

Mahoosive thanks to the wonderful and very skilled Donna Norman for fitting me in for a sports massage on Thursday. That helped ease the back to make it feel brand new again (and for all the advice on what to do when it happened). If you have an injury sports or non sports related Donna is the lady you need to see. You can contact her here:http://www.bespokeinjurymanagement.co.uk

Tomorrow I'm back on the Jack Fleckney program...
